Forallegedly impregnating a 15-year-old girl (name withheld) by defilement, a Lagos Magistrate Court, Ikeja yesterday ordered four men to be remanded in prison custody.

Magistrate B.O. Osunsanmi ordered the defendants: Stephen Godwin, 33; Henry Obo, 25; Stanley Igen, 33; be remanded in Kirikiri Prison pending the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) advice on the matter.

The plea of the defendants was not taken and the magistrate ordered that the police to send the case file to DPPs office. She further ordered the fourth defendant, being a teenager to be remanded at the Correctional Homes, Adigbe, Abeokuta.

The prosecution counsel, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, informed the court that the defendants committed the offence between 2018 and 2019 at their residence in Anifowoshe, Ikeja.

He explained that the defendants defiled the orphan who lives in the same compound with them, by having sexual intercourse with the teenager. Ayorinde also told court that the girl is pregnant adding that the doctor confirmed that she is carrying a six-month-old pregnancy.

According to him, “when the case was reported to the police, the defendants were subsequently arrested.” He said their offence contravened the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate Osunsami therefore adjourned the matter to July 15, 2019 for mention.
