Court vacates order freezing Abia government accounts

The government of Abia State, in a special announcement by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Eze Chikamnayo, yesterday, said the ex parte order made on March 28 by an Abuja High Court freezing accounts of the state government in various financial institutions was vacated on April 6 by the same court.

The presiding judge, Justice Bello Kawu, who made the initial order reversed same after listening to arguments by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Uche Ihediwa, who led a team of lawyers for the state government.

Chikamnayo stated that the said order, procured by one Eni, was vacated on the grounds that the affidavit supporting the application is defective, and that the lifespan of the ex parte order has expired, among others.

He thanked Abians for their patience and prayerful support, saying: “It is now apparent even to skeptics that Abia is facing a new wave of political turbulence with inexperienced and unpatriotic saboteurs, as well as self-serving wayfarers on the drivers seat.”

Chikamnayo also commended the state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, who he described as  “Rebuilder of Abia State” for his efforts towards liberating the state from the grips of elements whose motivation is to use instruments of politics to pursue petty purposes.
