Of the 111 private varsities in Nigeria, Covenant University has come tops, emerging Best Private University for Year 2022 at the Nigeria Prestige Education Awards.

The red carpet event, which held at the weekend, was to honour outstanding primary, secondary and tertiary institutions across the federation. In a statement, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abiodun Adebayo, who was represented by Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. David Imhonopi and others, noted: “It is safe to say that none of the accolades should go to the University’s Faculty, staff or students, but to God.

“No man can receive anything from the Lord except it is given to him.”He appreciated the Board of Regents, led by the Chancellor, Dr. David Oyedepo, for providing an enabling platform that stimulates great learning

The VC reiterated: “Covenant University is God-founded, God-funded and God is equally running the University; no wonder it’s the best of the best. To Him alone be all the glory.

“This award has gone on to join the plethora of awards the University has amassed over the years via the divine mandate and leading of God.”
Delivering the acceptance speech, Chairman of the Students’ Council, Mr. Victor Egbadon, attributed the school’s edge over others to innovative minds, alluding to the university’s Town and Gown seminars, where the students are opportune to liaise with industry experts to share experiences and have hands-on knowledge.

Earlier in his welcome address, the organiser, Mr. M.A. Abiola, emphasised that such prestigious awards and recognitions could only go to most outstanding schools.

“The event is aimed at celebrating heroes in education and change makers,” he added.
