The Borno State Police Commissioner, Naziru Abdulmajid has ordered for a robust security measures to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free 2026 Easter celebration across the state.
According to him, the security measures include the massive deployment of personnel to places of worship and other public places during the religious festivities.
Spokesperson of the Police command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nahum Daso, disclosed yesterday in a statement in Maiduguri that; “The command’s commitment is to protect people’s lives and property, and the command’s operational assets at strategic locations in the state.
Regarding security during the Easter celebration, the ASP stated: “The commissioner’s massive deployment of personnel would protect all worship centres, recreational facilities, and other public places,” adding that the offers are directed to maintain what he described as, maximum vigilance, professionalism, and visibility policing throughout the Easter period.
Daso further revealed: “As part of the proactive security measures, the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit Base 13 Maiduguri, has been mandated to conduct thorough sweeping and scanning operations at designated locations to forestall any potential security threats at any of the Churches.
He added that the command will also work in collaboration with other security agencies to ensure coordinated efforts in safeguarding lives and property before, during, and after the festivities.
Abdulmajid also reassured the people of Borno state of the command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, while wishing all Christian faithful a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.
