Customs, NPF, NSIWC others bag character compliance awards

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd), and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, the chairman of the National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission (NSIWC), Mr Ekpo Nta, others on Tuesday, bag awards for their outstanding compliance with the mandate of the Federal Character Commission (FCC).

Chairman, FCC, Dr Muheeba Dankaka, while presenting the award in Abuja, at the 2022 commission’s maiden award ceremony, restated allegiance to equitable distribution of posts across the country.

Dankaka said: “I have also quite reasonably realized that these interactions have broadened my mind and understanding of the complexities of the commission and how stakeholders need to work In synergy to achieve set goals and targets.

“In that case, there should be a reward system that can encourage voluntary compliance with our guiding principle and our staff to enhance productivity. The appreciation and encouragement should also be extended to our superintending office who are always at hand to listen to our challenges and proffer solutions.

“In the same category is the Senate and House of Representatives, particularly the chairmen of the Federal Character Committees in both chambers.

“There have been constant guidance and advice in areas of our operations. We therefore must profoundly thank and appreciate them and show our gratitude through the token presentation of an award and recognition on a night like this.

“For MDAs, we are encouraged by their level of engagements with the commission and to an extent, the level of compliance with our guidelines and formulae for recruitment and distribution of infrastructures, socio-economic amenities and social interventions.”

In his remarks, the Comptroller General of Customs, Colonel Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd), thank the commission for keeping to its mandate of the establishment.

He said: “When we have regulatory agencies, what matters is not the written guideline or law, what matter is those leading them and the commitment to effort and implementing those law guarding it, the chairman has done well in ensuring that we are compliant with the guideline.”

Also, the Chairman of, the National Salaries, Income, and Wages Commission (NSIWC), Mr Ekpo Nta, said that compliance is the biggest issue in Nigeria.

He also commends the commission for their zeal in sustaining the unity and peaceful co-existence of Nigerians.

FCC also presented awards to staff who have worked tirelessly with a high sense of responsibility in the discharge of their duties.

Other award beneficiaries are, the Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo for the ministry, the Joint Admission Matriculation Board, the Federal Road Safety Commission, The Nigerian Army, Federal Polytechnic Bali, Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola, the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, among others.
