DAAR greets The Guardian at 40
DAAR Communications, owners of AiT, RayPower and Faaji FM, has joined in congratulating The Guardian Newspaper on its 40th anniversary.
Executive Director of Corporate Communications, Johnson Onime, in the letter of goodwill to the Managing Director/ Editor-in- Chief of The Guardian Newspaper Limited, Martin Oloja, wrote: “It is indeed with the greatest honour and joy that I convey, on behalf of the entire Staff, Management and Board of DAAR Communications, our heartfelt congratulations and felicitation to your most esteemed – the Publisher, Board, Editorial Board, Management and Associates of Guardian Press Limited on the auspicious occasion of the 40th anniversary of publishing The Guardian newspaper in Nigeria.
“In retrospection, exactly in 1983, The Guardian hit the news stand and the pledge of the founding father – the legendary Chief Alex Ibru – was that the newspaper would be the Flagship of the Nigerian press through its journalists’ excellence, resoundingly amplified in its editorial independence, professionalism, fair and balanced editorial policy, edifying writing style, elevated linguistics style, objective editorial judgment and the defense of democratic values for the betterment of our society and ultimately the good of mankind.
“That the dream of the founding fathers, 40 years after, is still as apparent as the shining star, is indeed a statement of fact and an enviable testimony. That The Guardian newspaper is the Flagship of the Nigerian media is equally a legacy still upheld and cherished.
“As The Guardian under your able leadership commences its journey into its Golden jubilee, Centenary anniversary and even beyond, it is our fervent prayer that your journalistic excellence will continue to impact greatly on your commercial success and The Guardian newspaper shall outlive this generation.”
