taraba-stateLearning activities at the only government owned Special Education Centre, located in Mutum-Biyu area of Gassol local Government of Taraba State, is on the verge of collapse, as the students have collectively passed a vote of no confidence on the school principal, Mr. Moseh Halliru.

To prevent them from embarking on a peaceful demonstration, the students said there is need for the state government to immediately remove the principal.

The students, who observed with dismay, the way and manner the school authority has continued to discriminate against deaf students, believe that such practices must immediately be brought to an end.

They would also want qualified deaf personnel to be appointed to replace normal administrators.

Other demands, which the students believe would pave way for peace in the school, are the immediate employment of qualified teaching staff and constant supervision of the centre by appropriate bodies.

The students, who made this known yesterday, while briefing journalists in Jalingo, said the “non-challant attitude of the school principal is becoming unbearable to them and all persons living with disabilities in this state.”

Flanked by the students, Zayyanu Umaru, President of deaf students, pleaded with relevant authority in the state to act fast before academic activities in the school are hampered.
