The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Sheriff Oborevwori, has assured his supporters and associates that he was still in the race to become governor of the state in next year’s general elections.

While commending Deltans for the massive support for his ambition, Oborevwori condemned a faceless author circulating reports to promote falsehood and deceive the gullible about his ambition.

The Speaker, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Dennis Otu, urged his supporters to remain steadfast, saying that Deltans were wiser and could not fall for such blackmail as he was still in the race.

He called on Deltans to ignore the said publication purporting that he had stepped down from the race, adding that his purported withdrawal from the governorship race was the imagination of people who were scared of the massive support he was enjoying from Deltans at home and in the Diaspora as well as other residents in the state.

Oborevwori cautioned that politics should be issue-based and not attack on personalities, noting that at no time had he been invited by any anti-graft agency for questioning over fraud related issues.

The speaker, who is currently attending a retreat with the leadership of the Senate and House of Representatives Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution, urged his supporters to remain committed to the collective dream of moving from stronger Delta to advancing Delta.
