A Councillor representing Ward 5 in Ethiope East Legislative arm in Dellta State, Mr. Jude Adjekpovu, has died as a result of gunshots from suspected herders.

The Guardian learnt that the deceased, who was shot a fortnight ago by the herders, died in the early hours of yesterday at a private hospital in Warri, where he was receiving treatment.

Sources said the late Councillor was shot along Eku/Abraka road, while returning from a function.

It was gathered that the suspects escaped after shooting the Councillor without removing anything from him.

Abraka-Eku road has recently turned a nightmare as hoodlums have continued to kill innocent and unsuspecting individuals.

However, the Chairman of the Council, Hon. Victor Ofobrukueta, said there are moves to check criminal activities in the area by arresting and prosecuting those found culpable in the killing.

Contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed that the Councillor died yesterday morning.

He said: “I don’t know how he was killed because the matter was not reported to the Police on time. In fact, I’m just hearing about it this morning.”
