Delta courts begin vacation August 1, resume September 28

Delta State Chief Judge, Justice Marshal Umukoro, has declared a six-week vacation for high court judges in the state.

A statement in Asaba yesterday by the Director of Information, Paul Osahor, explained that the vacation was pursuant to provisions of sections 35 and 36 of the High Court, Cap H3, volume 3 Laws of Delta State 2016.

Osahor said that the vacation would commence from August 1, to September 27, 2017.

He added that accordingly, vacation judges are hereby assigned to hear and determine urgent matters, cases and suits during the vacation period.

While Justice Michael Nduka Obi of the High Court, Warri will take charge of Delta South senatorial district, Justice Jalogho-Williams of the Effurun High Court will oversee Delta Central senatorial district while Justice Marcel Chukwunnedum Okoh of the High Court of Justice, Asaba will be in charge of Delta North senatorial district.

He advised legal practitioners, litigants and members of the public to note and take necessary action, disclosing that the 2017/2018 Legal Year would commence on September 28, 2017.
