Delta Police Commissioner, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim

The Delta State Commissioner of Police (CP), Zanna Ibrahim, has ordered restriction to vehicular movements on the Niger Bridge with effect from 12 a.m. tomorrow.

The move comes as neighbouring Anambra State counts down to Saturday’s governorship election.

The restriction will remain until the poll ends.

The CP said only persons on official and emergency duties and with genuine means of identification would be allowed passage during the period.

A statement by police spokesman in the state, Mr. Andrew Aniamaka, required all law-abiding citizens of Delta to comply with the directive in order to enhance security during the election.

The police regretted the inconvenience the measure would cause commuters, especially those traveling to South-East and South-South states.

Ibrahim enjoined them to take alternative routes or make do with other contingency plans, stressing that the order was in the interest of public safety.
