
Police operatives attached to Oghara Police Division in Delta State have arrested 35-year-old Famous Olotu, along Ibori road, Oghara in Ethiope West Local Council of the state.
The Command’s spokesperson, Edafe Bright, who confirmed the arrest told The Guardian in Asaba, yesterday, said the suspect was arrested during a stop and search duty along Ibori Road.
According to Edafe: “The police team intercepted one Famous Olotu and subjected him to a search during which, one locally made cut-to-size gun loaded with one live cartridge was recovered.
“The suspect, upon interrogation, was immediately taken into custody While investigation is currently ongoing on the matter.” Edafe said operatives of the Command’s Eagle-Net Special Squad on Sunday chased a suspected male passenger carrying a mini bag in Warri.
He explained that the police patrol in Warri sighted a male passenger carrying a mini bag, who on sighting the Police, alighted from a mini bus and fled with the bag.
Edafe said the suspect’s action was suspicious, hence the operatives went after him, but when the fleeing suspect noticed that the policemen were closing in on him, he abandoned the said bag and escaped into a nearby river. He was later arrested.
He stated the bag was thoroughly searched by the police team and one locally made cut-to-size double barrel gun and one locally made short gun were recovered.
“The Command will leave no stone unturned in the fight against crime and criminality in the state as all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Tactical Commanders were mandated to ensure sustenance of raids of criminal hideouts/black spots in their area of responsibilities across the state,” he added.
