The Commissioner of Police in Imo State, Aboki Danjuma, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into misconduct allegations against officers from the Anti-Narcotic Unit and the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Owerri.

The allegations, brought forward by social media influencer Young C Entertainment, were shared in a viral video accusing the officers of unprofessional behaviour while on duty.

This directive was confirmed in a statement issued Tuesday by the Command’s spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Henry Okoye. The Commissioner has tasked an unnamed Assistant Commissioner of Police, who is in charge of the Inspector General of Police’s X-Squad, with leading the investigation.

In the statement, the police assured the public that the investigation would be thorough and justice would be served.

“The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, has directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police overseeing the IGP X-Squad to conduct a thorough investigation into the viral allegations made by Young C Entertainment against operatives of the Command’s Anti-Narcotics Unit and the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Owerri, as seen on social media. This investigation aims to ascertain the facts and ensure that justice is served.”

Danjuma further reassured the public that any officer found guilty of misconduct would face appropriate disciplinary measures in line with the regulations of the Nigeria Police Force. He also warned that any supervising officers who failed in their duties would also be held accountable.

The Commissioner called on those involved in the video’s production to cooperate with the investigation, urging them to report to the IGP X-Squad in Owerri when required.

“The Imo State Police Command remains committed to upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights of citizens. Further updates on this matter will be provided in due course,” the statement concluded.
