Members of the National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC) have been advised to participate in the 2019 general elections as impartial electoral officers and maintain the good integrity of the scheme.

The Director-General, Brigadier General Suleiman Kazaure, gave the charge at Jigawa State Orientation Camp, Fanisau, Dutse, yesterday while addressing corps members deployed to Jigawa and Yobe states.

He said corps members’ involvement in previous elections in the country had attracted commendations within and outside the country, hence, the need to maintain the status quo.

He, however, warned that any corps member that violates the electoral laws would be prosecuted accordingly.

Kazaure enjoined the youths to respect the culture and tradition of their various host communities and serve as good ambassadors of their families and the NYSC.

The DG cautioned them against risky adventures such as lone movements, night parties and unnecessary journeys.

“Try and work hard. Avoid drugs, do your best and leave the rest for God,” he said.
