To contain the pervasive insecurity and restiveness of the younger population, government has been advised to engage the youths productively.

A professor of Nutrition and chairman, anniversary committee of Ereko Methodist Cathedral, Tola Atinmo, made the call yesterday at a press briefing to announce activities lined up for the 150th celebration of the first Yoruba-speaking church of the 19th century.

He noted that the sea of able-bodied young men and women roaming about aimlessly in the streets was a time bomb waiting to explode.

Atinmo urged President Muhammadu Buhari and the state governors to design programmes that would reduce unemployment and take young people off the streets.

He charged that the mission should be handled with total responsibility, commitment and fear of God for result.

The don also appealed to Nigerians, particularly Christians, to do more on youth employment and empowerment to safeguard the future of the country.
