The spokesperson for the Kaduna-based cleric, Ahmad Gumi, Tukur Mamu, is currently being interrogated by the Department of State Services (DSS) over security matters in parts of the country.

Manu, who is the Publisher of Desert Herald Newspaper in Kaduna, allegedly negotiated the release of some of the victims of the March 2022 Kaduna Train attack.

He was arrested in Eygpt on Tuesday and detained by Interpol at the Cairo International Airport while awaiting a connecting flight to Saudi Arabia.

It was gathered that he was arrested by Egyptian authorities based on a request by the Nigerian government and was repatriated to Nigeria on Wednesday.

Confirming the arrest of the self-acclaimed Kaduna Train hostage negotiator, spokesperson of the DSS, Peter Afunanya, said Mamu was intercepted by Nigeria’s foreign partners at Cairo, Egypt on September 6, 2022 while on his way to Saudi Arabia.

Afunanya said: He has since been returned to the country, today, September, 07,2022 and taken into the Service’s custody. The act followed a request by Nigeria’s Military, Law Enforcement and Intelligence Community to their foreign partners to bring back Mamu to the country to answer critical questions on ongoing investigations relating to some security matters in parts of the country.

“The public may wish to note that the law will appropriately take its course.
