The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission and Lagos State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has called on Christians to use the Easter season as a time for deep reflection on God’s love for humanity and the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the Cross.

Adegbite asked believers to extend such sacrificial love to fellow human beings, the nation, and its leadership, noting that Easter should inspire compassion, unity, and national transformation.

He also expressed optimism about the future of Nigeria, assuring citizens that the nation would not disintegrate despite prevailing challenges. According to him, peace will ultimately reign and every storm confronting the country will be subdued.

Adegbite CAN chairman stated this at the just-concluded four-day Destiny 2026 conference, the annual gathering of Vineyard Christian Ministries Inc.

The conference, themed “A Time of Refreshing in His Presence,” was held at the church headquarters on Osolo Way, off International Airport Road, Ajao Estate, Isolo, Lagos. The event also marked the ministry’s 38th anniversary and drew worshippers, ministers, and participants from across Nigeria and beyond.

In his message, Presiding Bishop of Vineyard Christian Ministry, Archbishop John Osa-Oni, urged Christians to rise above spiritual depression and radiate the glory of God by cultivating a deeper relationship with Him.

“You must be deliberate in your desire for the knowledge of God to truly know Him. It is not a casual relationship… it is an intentional relationship to dwell in His presence for refreshing,” he said.

Osa-Oni emphasised that remaining in God’s presence guarantees rest, joy, preservation, and access to the divine nature, enabling believers to experience peace even in difficult times. “When you secure the presence of God, you secure life,” he added.

Also speaking, Coordinator of the Lagos State PFN Women Wing, Apostle Josephine Femi-Asiwaju, encouraged Christians to continually seek and abide in God’s presence.

She noted that abiding in God provides clarity of identity and comfort, even in moments of weakness. “Even if your character is faulty and you are weary in life, still be in His presence and abide in Him,” she said.
