The wife of Lagos State Governor, Dr Claudia a Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu has called on parents to not just instill the values of faith, unity, respect, empathy, and love in their children, they must also exhibit the values in their day to day activities.
Speaking at the 2025 Easter party fiesta for children organised by the Officer of the First Lady themed, ‘Love beyond measure’, Sanwo-Olu said that these are the virtues that shape positive character and prepare children for a bright and responsible future.
She added: “I want you all to remember that you are special, deeply loved, and fully capable of achieving great things. Your dreams are valid, and your voices matter. Don’t ever let anyone make you feel otherwise.
“Each one of you carries a unique light that the world needs. Don’t be afraid to shine. Whether you dream of becoming a doctor, artist, teacher, athlete, or leader—believe in your abilities, stay focused, and pursue your dreams with determination.
“Surround yourself with positivity. Seek out people who inspire and uplift you. The friends you choose will influence your journey—choose wisely. Stay away from bad influences and always lean into values that make you proud of who you are becoming.”
She implored the children to never underestimate the power of hard work, discipline, and faith, but stay committed to your goals, even when the road seems tough.
She urged them to keep learning, growing, and believing, because the future belongs to those who dare to dream and are willing to work for it.
“To our dear parents and caregivers, thank you for your tireless efforts in raising godly, disciplined, and intelligent children. Please continue to support and encourage them to be the best versions of themselves.”
Sanwo-Olu disclosed that the annual Easter Party Fiesta is very dear to her heart and has become a cherished tradition for the First Family of Lagos State.
“It is a time to share joy, laughter, learning, and the warmth of God’s love with you, our precious children.”
She noted that the Easter season reminds Nigerians of the power of love, sacrifice, and renewal.
“It calls us to reflect on kindness, compassion, and the everlasting grace of God. One of the ways we express that reflection is by hosting the event to celebrate, learn, and create beautiful memories together.”
Also speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Basic Education, Mr Jamiu Alli Balogun, enjoined parents to be loving and kind to their children as it is key to building a healthy home.
While Rev Kolade Ilori of Hoare’s Memorial Methodist Cathedral, Yaba gave a shortExhortation on the theme “Love beyond measure“, Pastor Adekoya David, a Zonal Pastor of MFM Lagos prayed for the children and participants in Nigeria.
The Footprint of David presented a drama to entertain the guests at the programme.
