Wife of the Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs. Uzoamaka Nwifuru, has called on leaders at all levels to build a society where every child, regardless of physical ability, gender, or background, is given equal opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.

She stressed that inclusion is not merely a goal but a responsibility that everyone must uphold.

Mrs. Nwifuru made the call on Tuesday during the Children’s Day celebration, where she described children as not just future leaders but active contributors to the present whose voices and dreams must shape decisions at all levels.
According to her, children remain the heartbeat of the nation and must be protected and guaranteed equal opportunities.

“Every smile we see, every dream spoken, and every little hand raised in hope carries the weight of our collective future. Today, we do not just celebrate a day on the calendar; we celebrate life, potential, innocence, and the limitless promises that each child represents,” she stated.

She noted that this year’s Children’s Day theme, ‘Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child,’ serves as a reminder that building a better society cannot be postponed.

“It must begin today by ensuring that every child is carried along, protected, and given equal access to opportunities to grow and succeed regardless of background, gender, ability, or social status,” she added.

Mrs. Nwifuru reaffirmed her commitment to the protection and empowerment of children through her pet project, the BERWO Foundation.

She explained that the foundation’s interventions focus on vulnerable and indigent children, healthcare, education, nutrition, and advocacy against child abuse, neglect, trafficking, and all forms of violence.

“We are committed to ensuring that no child is left behind,” she said.

Addressing children directly, she urged them to remain focused, disciplined, and hopeful.

“Believe in your abilities. Pursue your education with determination and understand that your dreams are valid and achievable. You are destined for greatness. If you are suffering any form of violence, please speak up and you will be protected,” she advised.

She also urged parents and guardians to nurture children with love, discipline, and intentional guidance, while commending teachers for their dedication to shaping the minds and character of future leaders.

“As we celebrate today, let us embrace the call for inclusion. Let us build a society where every child, regardless of physical ability, gender, or background, is given equal opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. Inclusion is not just a goal; it is a responsibility we must all uphold,” Mrs. Nwifuru stated.
