Ebonyi govt summons contractors over delay, poor workmanship

In their bid and commitment toward ensuring that all contractors deliver quality jobs in line with specifications, the state Commissioner for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Hon. Sunday Inyima has summoned the contractor handing Iziogo Agbaja tunnel project for explanation.

Commissioner Inyima made the summon on Monday during intensive inspection of all ongoing projects embarked upon by Ebonyi state government expressed dissatisfaction with the progress at the Iziogo Agbaja tunnel project noting that such attitude by contractors will not be condole again.

He warned that the Ministry will not hesitate to recommend sanctions for any contractor found wanting.

Inyima sounded that all contractors must deliver quality jobs in line with specifications, within the timelines set by the Nwifuru administration adding that the Ministry will summoned any contractor for explanations on the delay and poor workmanship.

At the ongoing flyover construction site at Nwezenyi, the Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work.

“The level of work here is commendable. This is in line with His Excelency’s vision of delivering lasting infrastructure for Ebonyi people,” he said.

The delegation also inspected the ongoing Onuenyim Bridge project. Speaking at the site, the Commissioner noted the strategic importance of the bridge.

“The bridge will be a direct connection with our Benue brothers and sisters. It will foster interstate relationships between Ebonyi and Benue and boost trade and movement,” he stated.

However, the team expressed dissatisfaction with the progress at the Iziogo Agbaja tunnel project. Hon. Elechi summoned the contractor to the Ministry for explanations on the delay and poor workmanship.

Other projects visited by the team includes ongoing construction of internal roads at Oferekpe, University of ICT, ongoing ultra-modern building construction at General Hospital Oferekpe, ongoing 12km road at Iziogo-Ogbaga Randa Bridge.

The monitory team included the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Engr. Chukwuma Nwiboko, and the Special Assistant, Hon. Ajah Philemon.
