Edo Acting governor tasks graduates on job creation, self-employment
Acting Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, yesterday said the era of white collar jobs for graduates was no more, and that graduates must strive to be self-employed and create jobs to drive the economy.
Shaibu gave the advice during the 25th convocation ceremonies of Auchi Polytechnic, where 28,325 students graduated from the 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 academic sessions with 486 students bagging Distinction.
He said Nigeria’s economy demanded all hands to be on deck to stimulate its growth and development, adding that in the past, graduates had jobs waiting for them, with an apartment as well as an official car immediately after graduation. But now, the reverse is the case.
Rector of Auchi Polytechnic, Dr. Momodu Sanusi Jimah, urged the graduates to be good ambassadors of the school.
