From the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris has come commendation for Police personnel that participated in the just concluded governorship election in Edo State, saying their professional and exemplary conduct during the entire process was in line with international standards of policing with integrity.

Meanwhile, as part of the efforts to sanitise the police and purge the organisation of corrupt practices, the IGP yesterday received the completed report of audited accounts of the police subsidiaries, commissioned in July to check the spending of the Force’s investment bodies and subsidiaries.

The Edo State election, held on Wednesday, was adjudged to be conducted under peaceful atmosphere, devoid of the rancour of previous elections which in most cases were fraught with loss of lives and property.

A statement issued yesterday by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Don Awunah said the IGP was particularly pleased with implementation of the security template before, during and after the election, which has also received the commendation from both local and international observers of the election as indicated in the preliminary report.
