Edo to immortalise late IGP Solomon Arase

The Edo State Government has announced plans to immortalise the late former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, an indigene of the state.

Governor Monday Okpebholo disclosed this on Saturday while receiving Arase’s remains at the Benin Airport.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Gani Audu, the governor described the late IGP as “one of the finest police officers and lawyers Edo State has produced,” noting that his passing was a great loss to the state and the nation.

“As a state government, we will work with the family to see how we can immortalise him. He was a great son of Edo State,” Okpebholo said.

He expressed sadness over Arase’s death at a time the Nigeria Police Force and the country still needed his wealth of experience and leadership.

“It is painful that we lost somebody who always listened to complaints and worked hard to solve them,” the governor added, describing Arase as a team player and a selfless public servant.

He prayed for God to grant the family the strength to bear the loss and assured that the state government would continue to support them.
