• Fashola is APC’s best chance, says group

A group, the Edo Volunteers for Tinubu 2023, has declared its support for former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu’s presidential bid in the 2023 general elections.

The group, while reiterating its support in a statement signed by its convener, Adetutu Owolabi, praised Tinubu as “a dynamic leader who has repeatedly proven his mettle at the highest level of leadership.”

Owolabi noted that the group had already begun the task of amplifying Tinubu’s progressive agenda in the South-South region because the mission of securing the emergence of the Jagaban of Borgu is a joint one that every well-meaning Nigerian ought to key into.

She said the former Lagos State governor had served as a ladder through which many have climbed on to destiny fulfilment.

ALSO, a youth group, Young Easterners for Progressive Governance (YEPG), under the auspices of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youths for Progressive Change, has called on Babatunde Raji Fashola to put himself forward as the next president.

In a statement, the leader of the group, Mr. Abdulaziz Bolarinwa, said they strongly believe that Fashola is the best chance for the party to win and for Nigeria to make considerable progress.

The group stated that for the APC to stand any chance of retaining the Presidency in 2023, it must provide a tested and proven candidate like Fashola.

It added that the party would have to work harder to win in 2023 given the current state of the economy and insecurity across the country.

The group, therefore, urged the APC to ensure smooth conduct of the national convention as that would be critical for the party moving into an election year.

“If we get it wrong at the convention, we will have a divided house going into an election year and that would make it a lot more difficult for us as a party. We must, therefore, do all we can to ensure smooth conduct of the convention and move to quickly resolve any conflict that may arise afterwards,” they urged.
