Egan residents in Alimosho local council of Lagos State have appealed to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to prevail on the contractor handling the ongoing construction of the Agric/Ayobo road to open it for commuters during the yuletide.

The residents disclosed that the road was closed in January this year when work began and alternative roads leading to the community have become impassable for motorists.

It was gathered that the project that was supposed to be completed by October this year had been abandoned by the NESAM Construction Company handling the project. The residents said the appeal to open the road before work would commence again became imperative because of security glitz in the area.

A resident of the community, Alabi Ogundimu, said: “The incident of armed robbery has increased now because police patrol vehicles cannot reach the communities around Agric Road, we have been sleeping with one eye open and that is the reason we are appealing to the government to ask the contractor to open the road pending when work will resume”.

One of the landlords in the community, Mr. Alabi Adeyemi, said the community will forever be grateful to the governor for commencing the project and appealed to him to ensure its completion because the job is already 80 per cent done.

He said: “We see Governor Ambode as a God-sent liberator in this community because of this road, but we shall be happy if he can commission it before his tenure expires in May next year.”
