Ojo and two others were murdered by unknown gunmen in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital at about 10 pm on Friday at a viewing centre in Adebayo Area, along Iworoko.
Although the identities of the two other men were not ascertained at the time of filing this report, a source revealed that Ojo, who is now a commissioner on the board of Federal Character Commission (FCC), was said to have gone to the viewing centre in company of his political friends before tragedy struck.
An eyewitness said the gun-totting men, numbering six, invaded the centre and started shooting sporadically, when the deceased was reportedly shot in the head and stomach.
A source in Oni’s camp said Ojo was nursing political ambition ahead of 2019, adding that he had the intention of contesting for the House of Representatives in Ekiti North Federal Constituency II, which comprises Ido/Osi, Ilejemeje and Moba local councils.
