A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Ekiti State, Hon Opeyemi Falegan, has called for genuine reconciliation among party members in the state, following the on-going uproar after the ward, local government and state congresses.

A former Governor of the state, Mr. Ayo Fayose and the Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District, Senator Biodun Olujimi, are the leaders championing the two factions within the state PDP.

Falegan, one of the founding party members, in a release, yesterday, called for reconciliation among members of the two factions.

He said: “What is needed within the PDP in the state now is a genuine and unbiased reconciliatory mechanism that will bring all together as members of the same family.

“PDP leaders across the board must strive to work together as an indefatigable and united entity to reclaim power from the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2022 governorship election in the state.

“The expression of fundamental human rights by the two factions within the party in the current tussle is, no doubt, an indication that members of the party in Ekiti still believe in democracy. After all, the latest move would only strengthen the party after a genuine reconciliation that must be accepted to all groups and stakeholders.”

The United Kingdom-based politician said the party needs to be well repositioned than ever, especially in terms of leadership structure to further build members’ confidence and make it stronger.

According to him, party members need to be convinced that the era of a winner takes all has been completely buried, while the interest of party members will be adequately protected, especially during the party’s primary elections in the nearest future.

Falegan, therefore, called on all PDP supporters to remain calm, committed and loyal to the cause of the party more than ever, to get to the Promised Land together.
