El-Rufai cautions politicians against dependence on handouts from govt
Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has said his administration is not ready to waste government resources on politicians and other elites who patronise Government House for handouts.
El-Rufai, who spoke while inaugurating the boards of five parastatals in the state, said that any politician or elite who believes government is a bazaar should know that his administration is against this practice.
He said: “The parastatals have mandates that are aligned to the goals of the Restoration Programme, and will help strengthen the public service.”
The agencies were Kaduna State Investment Promotion Agency (KADIPA), Kaduna Facility Management Agency (KADFAMA), Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS), Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) and the State Bureau of Pensions.
According to El-Rufai: “The government paid N2.7 billion in wages and pensions in May 2015. That is why we commenced the verification of the public service payroll from June 2015. If we had not done this, we would have to borrow N300 million just to pay salaries.
