Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Kaduna State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted a panel to be headed by Governor Nasir el-Rufai to check the gale of defection from the party in recent times.

The measure came less than one week after 15 chieftains left APC, the ruling party in the state, citing absence of internal democracy.

The panel, comprising members of the State Executive Council (SEC), State Working Committee (SWC), local council chairmen, elected representatives and elders was saddled with the responsibility of reaching out to aggrieved aspirants that lost out in various elective seats during the recent primaries.

The decision was arrived at during the zonal leadership parley, yesterday, chaired by the APC National Vice Chairman (North West), Salihu Lukman, in Kaduna.

Lukman urged the participants to approach the issue of reconciling aggrieved chieftains of the party with all sense of sincerity.

Governor el-Rufai assured the gathering of his readiness to give necessary support for the success of the committee’s assignment before campaign starts.
