Election: Ogun NSCDC commandant pledges adequate protection, professionalism

The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command, David Idowu Ojelabi, has pledged protection of voters, and all critical national assets and infrastructure in the state before, during and after Gubernatorial and State Houses of Assembly elections slated for March 11, 2023, 
Ojelabi, disclosed this  after a strategic consultative meeting with the Command’s formations in the state, aimed at reassuring  people of Ogun State on adequate security and protection during the upcoming elections.
 


Spokesperson for the Command, Dyke Ogbonnaya, in a statement yesterday, said the strategic consultative management meeting attended by  all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers from the state Command’s 73 formations was  to spell out the modes of operations and the rules of engagement in executing the elections alongside other sister services in the state.
 
“We are poised to ensure a safe protection for voters and the protection of all critical national assets and infrastructure in the state before, during and after the elections.”
 
“The people rely so much on our capabilities and we shouldn’t let them down by any means. The expectation from us all is to man our jurisdictions and give all our best to make this election a free, fair and credible one,” the state Commandant added.
     
He  assured the people of the state that adequate coverage will be given to black spots in different parts of the voting areas across the state to stem the rate of violence and disruption of voting processes across the state.
 
The state Commandant directed all tactical commanders, intelligence personnel and other strategic departments in the Corps to ensure safety and security for all before, during and after the elections in the state. Ojelabi noted that the state Command will deploy all its available capacity to cover all the polling units across the state.
