EmpowerHer Tech Initiative by Stechad to bridge gender gap in tech

In the ever-evolving realm of technology, a critical issue continues to loom large: the persistent gender gap within the industry. Recent statistics reveal a stark reality, with only 26.7% of tech professionals worldwide being women.

Responding to this challenge head-on, organizations are rolling out initiatives aimed at empowering women in tech. Among these trailblazers is Stechad Limited, an IT outsourcing company operating across the UK and Nigeria, with its groundbreaking EmpowerHer Tech Initiative taking center stage.

This innovative program targets high school girls throughout Africa, equipping them with essential IT skills and avenues to thrive in the tech sector. Offering an extensive curriculum encompassing cybersecurity, web development, mobile app development, graphics design, UI/UX design, and cloud computing, EmpowerHer Tech ensures participants receive comprehensive training. Additionally, the initiative provides mentorship opportunities, connecting budding female tech enthusiasts with industry veterans.

Dr. Adaora Precious Dagogo, Managing Director of Stechad, underscored the initiative’s mission to nurture Africa’s next generation of tech leaders. Dr. Dagogo emphasized the significance of diversity in fostering excellence and innovation, affirming the initiative’s dedication to closing the gender gap.

Echoing Dr. Dagogo’s sentiments, Dr. Excel Anyim, Senior Operations Manager at Stechad, stressed the importance of collective efforts in creating an inclusive tech ecosystem. The program, available to African girls aged 12-19, is entirely free and aims to level the playing field for all aspiring technologists.

As initiatives like EmpowerHer Tech gain traction, they play a pivotal role in narrowing the gender gap in tech, fueling innovation, economic progress, and societal empowerment. Embracing similar endeavors will not only benefit the tech industry but also foster broader societal advancement.
