The University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan has rolled out drums to celebrate its immediate past Chief Medical Director (CMD), Professor Temitope Alonge, for his meritorious service to the institution.

Alonge, a world renowned Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon credited with wide ranging reforms and other initiatives in positioning the institution as the foremost tertiary hospital in West Africa, also helped the hospital to attain global recognition as a centre of excellence in the training of medical personnel, research and the delivery of special health care services.

One of these projects is the N200 million In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Centre, the biggest in Nigeria, which was commissioned on Thursday, 14 February.

A senior member of staff, Dr. W. Balogun spoke glowingly of his achievements, which include putting up signage in various parts of the hospital for direction, eradicating delay in admission or access to treatment and employing more competent staff to ensure prompt and quality attention was given to all patients.

Also, Head of Hospital Service Department, Mrs. G. F. Logun praised the former CMD, noting that his zeal for the continuous improvement of the management of the hospital was unparalleled.
