Encomiums as Nicholas Iduwe is buried

Former Director of Operations, The Guardian, Chief Nicholas Ijeamaka Iduwe, 75, who passed on August 4, 2022, was yesterday, interred at his residence in Ikotun, Lagos.

A service of songs was held in his honour at St. Francis’ Catholic Church, Idimu, Lagos on Thursday.

The event was attended by members of his immediate family, including his wife, Ifeyinwa Joy Iduwe, his daughter, Joy Ajayi-nee Iduwe, and sons: Norris Iduwe, Peter Iduwe and Henry Iduwe.

At the funeral service, the Presiding Priest, Fr. Sebastine Adigwe, described him “as a devoted member of Catholic Church, who lived a life worthy of emulation.

“He was a fearless man, ready to help anyone who needed his help, always ready to do his best and very charismatic.

“He was full of energy, believed that as long as hands are joined together, nothing shall be impossible. He was a generous man who gave his energy, time and treasure to get things done.

The widow described her husband as a “dependable, loving and caring partner.”

His daughter, Joy described his father “as an amazing individual, a man who wanted to make everything right.

“He was loving, caring and ready to help anyone who crossed his path.

Also, Norris Iduwe described his father as very loving, caring and generous, a great man and a community leader who was loved by many.

“I am going to miss his advisory role, his words of wisdom, his exemplary knowledge among others,” he said.
Peter Iduwe described his father as a person all the children are proud of as a father and are all happy to celebrate his life.

“I will be missing his uprightness, determination, who was always a goal getter. He was an inspirational person, always encouraging people,” he said.

Henry Iduwe described his father as very caring and loving who will be greatly missed.

Mr. Nicholas Iduwe, who began his printing career with the Daily Times of Nigeria Limited joined the Guardian in 1982 as Deputy Controller of Operations. He was appointed Controller of Operations in 1984 and two years later appointed Director in charge of Operations, a post he held until his retirement and later came back as a Consultant.
He is survived by his wife and six children.
