Energy sector lauded for contribution to fight against COVID-19

The energy Industry has been applauded for providing support to the Federal Government in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The energy Industry has been applauded for providing support to the Federal Government in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

President Women in Energy Network (WIEN), Funmi Ogbue, who made the commendation, yesterday, said the Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry under the leadership of the Group Managing Director, NNPC, Mallam Mele Kyari, recently embarked on an industry-wide collaborative initiative to combat the pandemic.

The support covers three thematic areas namely: The provision of medical consumables; deployment of logistics and in-patient support system and delivery of medical infrastructure, which initially amounted to N11bn but increased later to N21bn.  

Ogbue called on relevant government agencies to prioritise the safety of women who are worst hit by the virus.
