Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has commended the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for appointing CSP Anietie Okokon as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force, describing the appointment as well deserved and a recognition of professionalism, competence and integrity.

The Governor’s goodwill message was delivered during a courtesy visit to the Force Public Relations Department at the Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja, led by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter-Governmental Affairs, Mr. Raymond Abia.

Speaking on behalf of Governor Umo Eno, Abia congratulated CSP Okokon for his elevation, expressing appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for entrusting an accomplished Akwa Ibom indigene with such an important national responsibility.

He declared : Our confidence is that the new Force PRO would uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and effective public communication particularly in the areas of community policing and national peace and development.

The Governor’s aide also reaffirmed Eno’s commitment to peace and security, stressing that the State Government would continue to strengthen its partnership with the Nigeria Police Force in support of the Federal Government’s security agenda

He therefore  assured that the Akwa Ibom would continue to support initiatives that provide qualified  youths with opportunities to serve the nation through the Nigeria Police Force.

As a mark of honour, the delegation presented CSP Okokon with a copy of Governor Umo Eno’s biographical memoir, “And It Came To Pass,” which chronicles his journey in public service and leadership.

Also, Chairman of the Arise with Renewed Hope Initiative, Abuja Chapter, Tommy Etim Okon, described  Okokon as a worthy ambassador of Akwa Ibom State whose discipline, competence and professionalism have earned him national recognition.

He recalled the distinguished service of the late father of the new Force PRO in the Nigeria Police Force and expressed confidence that CSP Okokon would build on that legacy through dedicated service to the nation.

Responding, CSP Anietie Iniedu Okokon thanked Governor Umo Eno for sending a delegation to felicitate with him and appreciated the Inspector-General of Police for the confidence reposed in him.

He pledged to justify the appointment through hard work, dedication and professionalism, noting that his family’s long history of service in the Police Force had prepared him for the responsibilities of the office.

He also assured the delegation that his office would remain open to constructive engagement and initiatives that promote inclusion and opportunities for qualified Akwa Ibom indigenes.

Earlier, the Akwa Ibom Journalists Forum, Abuja, led by its Chairman,  Dominic Edem, had also paid a congratulatory visit to the new Force PRO to celebrate his appointment and expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for choosing an Akwa Ibomite as the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force.

Edem described CSP as “the kind of police officer every Nigerian would be proud to work with and have as a friend and brother,” noting that he has consistently demonstrated humility, professionalism and an open-door policy that welcomes everyone irrespective of background or status.

The Forum also offered prayers for the Inspector-General of Police, asking God to grant him wisdom, strength, protection from adversaries and continued success in leading the Nigeria Police Force, while praying for a fruitful and impactful tenure for CSP Okokon as Force Public Relations Officer.

The visit was attended by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Mobilization, Abuja, Kingsley Iwok.
