Eno promises to harness A’Ibom coastline resources

Two months to 2023 election, the governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has promised to harness natural resources of Akwa Ibom coastline to boost the economy of the state.

Two months to 2023 election, the governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has promised to harness natural resources of Akwa Ibom coastline to boost the economy of the state.

He said one of the new frontiers of commerce and entrepreneurship for the state would be what he called the “Blue Economy”, which will explore marine and freshwater environments for economic growth and produce resources such as energy and food.
 
He spoke to a crowd in Udung Uko Council during the PDP rally.  Eno, an entrepreneur, said the wealth of Nigeria lies largely in the riverine areas of the country and only requires a leader with requisite knowledge to harness them for the benefit of the country.

Flanked by his wife, Pastor Patience, and the deputy governorship candidate, Akon Eyakenyi, he promised Udung Uko people, who are mainly fishermen, adequate security, safety and fishing equipment to enable them move their occupation to a commercial level, without harassment by pirates and other criminals. 

He disclosed that his economic team had already conducted assessment and segmented  his economic blueprint into four parts, which include quick impact, short term, medium term and long term projects.
