Environmental law experts advocate practical legal approach to earth’s sustainability
Experts in Environmental Law, yesterday, called for a more practical approach to conserve the earth for future generations.
The environmental law was the subject of discussion at an environmental summit organised by the Faculty of Law, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, with the theme, ‘Only One Earth: The Role of Law in Living Sustainably with Nature in the Niger Delta.”
The summit’s special guest of honour, who is also the Vice Chancellor of DELSU, Prof. Andy Egwunyenga, said every environmental problem was caused by human greed.
While urging active participation by stakeholders to get desired results, Egwunyenga commended the law students for their clean environment consciousness.
The keynote speaker, Prof. Ambrose Ekpu, of the Ambrose Ali University, Edo State and Dean Faculty of Law, ex-rayed the powers to prescribe and enforce environmental regulations between federal, state and local government councils.
