Epe local council in Lagos State begins cleaning of drains to avert flood

Lagos flood

Epe Local Government Council in Lagos State began the clearing of drains in the council area on Wednesday to avert erosion as the rainy season peaks.

Its chairperson, Ms Suurah Animashaun, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that some Epe youths were engaged for the exercise to also empower those selected.

“This serves as a good opportunity to empower the teeming youths within the locality to clean up the drains and to maintain them,’’ she said.

Animashaun added that the regular cleaning of the drains would help to tackle environmental and health challenges posed by blocked drains.

“This is an effort to create a cleaner and healthier environment for residents,’’ she said.
