Environmental Rights Action/Friends of the Earth Nigeria (ERA/FoEN), yesterday, advocated zero waste management practice in the country, saying it would address key environmental challenges, particularly on the emissions that contribute to climate change.

Executive Director, Environmental Rights Action/Friends of the Earth Nigeria (ERA/FoEN) Chima Williams, while addressing newsmen in Benin City during a training on zero waste methodologies, tagged “Strengthening local capacity for improved waste management policies in Edo State,” said the zero waste guidelines would ensure the environment would not be degraded.

Williams, who was represented by Project Officer Communication of ERA/FoEN, Babawale Obayanju, said the goal of zero waste constitutes another major solution that needs to be embraced as part of the alternative by policymakers in the country.

He noted that zero-waste guidelines were part of the activities of the ongoing project of ERA/FoEN focusing on strengthening local capacities for improved waste management policies in the Niger Delta.
