Ex-Anambra governor Mbadinuju dies at 78

Mbadinuju died on Tuesday morning at the National Hospital Abuja after a brief illness.

Former governor of Anambra State, Chinwoke Mbadinuju has passed away at the age of 78.

Mbadinuju died on Tuesday morning at the National Hospital Abuja after a brief illness.

“At this trying time, we pray for God’s grace and mercy upon him and those left behind to mourn him,” his family said in a statement.

“His funeral arrangements will be announced in due course by the family.”

Mbadinuju was Anambra state governor between May 1999 and May 2003. Before venturing into politics he was an associate professor of politics and African studies at the State University of New York.

He was personal assistant to the governor of the old Enugu State, Jim Nwobodo, between 1979 and 1980.

Also, he served as the personal assistant to President Shehu Shagari between 1980 and 1983.
