Ex-president’s aide alleges successive Anambra govts wasted N6.5 trn
Promises ADC’s ‘Umunna Governance Model’ Will Rescue The People
Former Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Technical Matters, Akachukwu Nwankpo has alleged that successive governments in Anambra State wasted over N6trn meant for the state’s development.
Nwankpo said the result of the said profligacy, occasioned by poor leadership was the inherent gap between the government and the people.
He attributed non-participation of the people in the management of public affairs led to widespread poverty and collapse of social infrastructure in the state despite the state’s humongous revenue earnings in the past 22 years of democracy.
Nwankpo, who is the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the November 6, 2021 election, regretted that, in spite of the abundant industrious and blessed population in the state, the people had tolerated a few people whom they could not control to hijack and mismanage the resources through vote buying, who then take over public places, levy taxes and operate with total disregard for the people’s welfare.
“Over N6.5trnn has been spent, yet we have hunger, poor security, bad roads, poor healthcare, poor educational system, no water, bad economy, massive unemployment and no facility for people living with disability.
“This wickedness must stop. The executive must respect the Constitution, the legislature and judiciary must have financial independence,” he said.
Nwankpo promised a new vista of life in which, if elected, he would operate the ‘Umunna’ Kindred Model Government that enables government to work hand-in-hand with the people.
