IMMEDIATE past chairman, Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of Federal Government College, Ikole, Ekiti State, Pastor Rufus Bola Famuwagun has donated 1,000 pieces of plastic chairs to the school.

Famuwagun, whose two-term tenure recently expired, handed over the gift to the Principal, Mr. Kolawole Isaac before the election of new executives.

He gave a concise account of his stewardship, which according to him was fraught with several challenges, but with the cooperation of the association, his executives and the management of the school were able to surmount all difficulties to accomplish landslide achievements.

He listed some achievements recorded during his tenure, which includes; construction of a modern school gate estimated at N1.5m, 240 bed-space girls hostel, four self-contained staff quarters, a trendy kitchen and six-classroom block, among others.

Said he, “We are paying about N828, 000.00 as PTA staff salaries. We help them during inter-house sports; give financial assistance to the school and many other things. I thank God that during my tenure, a single pupil was not lost. And the result for the past five years has been better than ever before.

Famuwagun, who is also the Coordinator of the association in the South West, urged the Federal Government to pay more attention to Federal Government Colleges across the country by recruiting more teachers, provision of more infrastructures so as to improve the sector.

Those who graced the event described him as a man of unquestionable character and integrity, whose achievements are indelible, not only in FGC, Ikole-Ekiti but also, in the Southwest as a team leader.

The principal noted that the mutual relationship with the school management, and sometimes, the confrontation by the PTA has set his administration on its toes, which in no small measure have yielded positive results to the advancement of the college.
