Ex-students protest against courses non-accreditation, NYSC non-mobilisation
Academic activities at Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa, Oyo State, were yesterday paralysed as former students of the institution shut down the main gate leading to the school premises.
The students were agitating non-issuance of their certificates and failure of the school authority to mobilise them for their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the last two years of their graduation as a result of non-accreditation of their courses. The students said the institution’s management had failed in their responsibilities to resolve the issue.
They said the management resolved to meet them on Wednesday, by 8:00 a.m. to address the issue and their failure to come on time led to the closure of the main gate.Meanwhile, the Rector of the institution, Mr. Eyitayo Iyiola, said that the basic cause of the problem is short of funds from the Oyo State government and misinformation from the Faculty of Engineering of the institution.
