Ex-TUC president, Esele, gives cash, foodstuff to women in Edo

Former Trade Union Congress (TUC) President, Peter Esele, yesterday distributed foodstuff and undisclosed amount of money to 600 widows and women from seven communities at Ohordua in Esan South East Local Council of Edo State.

The beneficiaries cut across political divides and across seven communities, including Ologua/Ohordua, Uriwa, Ibhiedu, Orekhebhie, Ozen, Eguare and Uokhuen. Esele, who noted that the burden of raising families was an excruciating pain in the absence of their breadwinners, said the distribution of the items and cash was a demonstration of his willingness to identify with the widows and share their burden in the spirit of the Yuletide.

In his remarks, Chairman, Esan North East Local Council, Mr. Victor Emuagbon, urged the widows to form a co-operative societies to enable them access the council’s loan scheme.
