Expert tasks Nigerians on care for senior citizens
The Chief Executive Officer of Arrowshot Care Solutions (ACS), Dapo Olugbodi, has stressed the need for Nigerians, especially those in diaspora, to provide adequate care to their aged parents and relatives in the country.
He said senior citizens need constant attention and premium care, which promote their wellbeing, adding that it has become imperative for Nigerians to embrace the services of professional caregivers to eliminate incidences of criminal behaviour and abuse of aged people by quacks.
Olugbodi said: “The high number of quacks in the unregulated care industry underscores the need to secure the services of professionals. Arrowshot has professionals, trained to deliver care with unique customer focus and in line with practices that are uncommon in the Nigerian care sector. Each potential service-user goes through a care assessment, as is standard in the developed world and a care solution is then developed, targeted to that individual needs.”
He affirmed there are standard procedures such as the United Kingdom fundamental standards of care, to provide thorough evaluation of care services.
“These are the standards ACS seeks to adhere to in the Nigerian context. The care service sector also requires integrity. ACS had employed a reputable channel, Background Checks International, to conduct background checks on all its would-be caregivers. This is aimed at verifying and authenticating information about the caregiver and providing assurance and peace of mind to clients,” he said.
