Leaders of thought and traditional rulers from Ezeagu South in Ezeagu Council of Enugu State have commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for keeping faith with the zoning of political positions based on fairness, equity and justice.

The Ezeagu stakeholders gave the commendation when they visited Ugwuanyi at the Government House, Enugu, yesterday, to thank him for resolving the zoning of Ezeagu Council chairmanship position under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

They expressed delight at the manner in which the governor handled the zoning of the chairmanship position to Ezeagu South during the party’s consultative meeting.

Led by former representative of Udi-Ezeagu Federal Constituency, Hon. Ogbuefi Ozomgbachi, the delegation maintained that the resolutions at the consultative meeting showed that Ugwuanyi is an apostle of equitable zoning.

“He said: “The tact and wisdom applied was amazing, but not surprising, because those of us who have associated with the governor and residents of Enugu State that have watched him for over six years and we appreciate the manner in which he makes difficult tasks easy.”

He added that Ugwuanyi’s discretion had helped Ezeagu people to sustain their zoning arrangement, stressing that the governor exhibited similar gesture when he headed PDP’s National Zoning Committee in preparation for the party’s convention in October last year.

The Ezeagu people, therefore, reassured Ugwuanyi of their support, saying: “Any time we are called upon to show our support, we will do so, even after leaving office as governor, because you are like a brother to us.”

Responding, Ugwuanyi, who attributed the success recorded during the zoning deliberations to God, told the delegation that the visit was an opportunity for him to join them in thanking God.

He stressed the importance of taking the right decisions and sustaining it, pointing out that such gesture promotes peace, unity and progress. The governor, therefore, advised the people of Ezeagu Council to officially document their zoning arrangement for posterity.
