The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Audi, has stressed the need for Nigerians to always remember the sacrifice and gallantry of officers of the corps, who died while in active service.

He spoke during the distribution of over N200m worth of life insurance payout to their families in Abuja.

Audi said 60 beneficiaries were being attended to in the first tranche of the rollout.

“Today, we are celebrating our colleagues, who died in the line of duty. We recognise their efforts while they were in service by giving their life insurance to their next of kin.

“These were officers and men who served gallantly in defence of their fatherland. So, we must never forget their service, especially with the ongoing war against insecurity in the country.

One of the beneficiaries, Ojo Olusegun, who received N17m as his late father’s life insurance, said his hope was revived.

Other beneficiaries received N11m, N7m, N5m, and N4m among others respectively, based on the
number of years they spent in service and their ranks.
