Family laments over NAU worker’s disappearance in Awka
The Chiaghana family in Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State has cried out over the sudden disappearance of its breadwinner and husband, Emeka Chiaghana, since October last month.
A reliable source told The Guardian that Chiaghana; an employee of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka was last seen around his Nibo residence in October this year, alleging that he was abducted by unknown persons.
But his wife, Chiazor Chiaghana who corroborated the story, yesterday in Awka, said her husband was whisked away from his Nibo residence by yet to be identified men, although she could not ascertain whether the abductors were armed or how many they were.
Mrs. Chiazor, who apparently appears emotionally disturbed, added that she was physically devastated and that her family was yet to make contact with the suspected abductors since his sudden disappearance.
She said, “I am worried over the silence of the suspected abductors since then. My husband had dropped my kids and me from the hospital around 9.15 pm and told me he needed to go drop his friend off.
“He came back around 10.45 pm and was about to open the gate when my mother-in-law who was upstairs sawing two men jump out of the nearby farm and ambushed him.
“He was immediately driven away by the abductors to an unknown destination and that was the last time we saw him.
“We quickly reported the matter officially to the police the next day as well as the local vigilante operatives in the community”.
Chiazor appealed to good spirited individuals with useful information to her husband’s whereabouts to avail such to the family, lamenting that her husbands’ absence over three weeks has kept her devastated.
“My husband’s absence since over 3kweeks has been devastating. He has been the pillar of the family and knows his responsibility as the head.
Sunday Meniru, who claimed to be a nephew to Chiaghana, said several efforts have been made by the family, friends, and associates of the victim towards his rescue.
He, however, regretted that none of the efforts had yielded desired results, alleging that some of them were being scuttled.
