The Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has disowned sponsor of his 2023 presidential campaign posters, which have gone viral on social media.

The Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has disowned sponsor of his 2023 presidential campaign posters, which have gone viral on social media.

The posters, which have his photograph and campaigns on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was sponsored by the Chairman of Ikere Local Council of the state, Mr. Femi Ayodele.

The poster, which was seen by our reporter on social media, has attracted mixed comments from people on the platforms. The poster showed Fayemi in his traditional Yoruba attire made of a sky blue Agbada with a blue Awolowo signature cap.

It carries a bold APC logo with “Support His Excellency, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi, for President 2023” on it.

However, confirming sponsorship of the post, the council boss said he did the posters to show his loyalty to Fayemi against insinuation that he was working against him.

He said the governor was good enough to be president of the country, considering his array of outstanding credentials, administrative shrewdness and political acumen.

Ayodele added that Fayemi’s commitment, resourcefulness and pedigree put him in good stead to lead Nigeria in the next political dispensation.

But reacting to the development, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Fayemi, Yinka Oyebode, distanced his principal from the posters.

According to Oyebode, Fayemi did not know anything about the posters. Oyebode, who said the sponsor was only expressing a mere personal opinion, urged the public to disregard the campaign posters.

He added that his principal was focused on governance and how to uplift Ekiti in terms of infrastructural, economic and social development instead of issues around 2023 elections.
