The Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Kayode Oladele, has reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to promoting fairness, inclusion, and equitable representation across Nigeria’s diverse population.
Oladele linked the Commission’s renewed drive to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasizes trust, inclusion, and opportunity for all Nigerians.
He made the remarks in Abuja during the 2025 Public Affairs and Communications Week of the Commission, themed “Our Diversity, Our Strength.”
According to Oladele, the weeklong event featured engagements, exhibitions, and reflections on how communication, understanding, and public participation can advance the Commission’s mandate and strengthen national unity.
“It has been a week of learning, inspiration, and recognition of our shared commitment to building a fair, inclusive, and united Nigeria,” Oladele said.
“This week reminded us that diversity is not a problem to be managed; it is a gift to be celebrated. Our nation’s strength lies not in uniformity, but in unity built upon equity, fairness, and a shared sense of belonging.”
He noted that when citizens understand and trust the fairness of recruitment, representation, and resource distribution, they become partners in nation-building — which, he said, is the essence of the Commission’s work.
Oladele described public communication as a vital tool for strengthening trust between the Commission and Nigerians, adding that the Public Affairs and Communications Department has served as a bridge between policy and the public.
“These activities have once again underscored the vital importance of that bridge,” he said. “From cultural engagements to exhibitions and social campaigns, you have shown that effective communication can inspire confidence.”
He reiterated the Commission’s resolve to uphold fairness, inclusivity, and transparency in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda, ensuring that every Nigerian, regardless of background or region, feels a sense of belonging in the nation’s governance structure.
Also speaking, the Director of Public Affairs and Communications, Mr. Chizea Christopher Chukwudi, said the theme of this year’s event reflects Nigeria’s identity and the FCC’s mission.
“The theme, ‘Our Diversity, Our Strength,’ captures the spirit of our nation and the Commission’s mandate to ensure fairness, unity, and equitable representation across all regions,” he said. “Our differences are not sources of division but of resilience and unity.”
Chukwudi described the department as the lifeblood of the Commission, bridging the gap between governance and the governed through effective storytelling and engagement that enhance visibility and credibility.
In his remarks, the Secretary to the Commission, Muhammad Musa, commended Oladele’s leadership, noting that his vision made the 2025 celebration possible.
